Xmas Fundraiser

Carol Singing

Saturday 25th November

Unbelievably yet again the bad weather stuck but thanks to those stout hearted bargain hunters of Rainham a possible wash out was turned into yet another success. In total we raised £178.95. Our thanks to Darren, Gay and the faithful few who helped arrange, set up and run this worthwhile event.

Friday 22nd December 2000

The carol singing at Rainham Station went well, even though it was the last Friday of the year and British Rail had put on more trains during the day to get people home early. Saying that, the staff at Rainham station made everybody very welcome and more than £50 was raised from the people who did come off the trains. After the carol singing there were refreshments back at the Hall with cakes donated, and photographs were taken. Hopefully these should be available on our web site in the next few months.

He’s Behind you!

A great time was had by all when Beavers and Cubs from both packs went to see a pantomime on Saturday 13th January 2001. Everyone laughed and joined in, as the talented team from R.A.T.S. (Rainham Armature Theatrical Society) acted out the all time classic Sleeping Beauty. Though all the audience was booing the evil witch and cheering the hero, it couldn’t be decided who was making the most noise, the children or the adults!

All those who went to see the pantomime want to say a BIG THANK YOU! to Eileen from the Beaver section who arranged the event.

Fundraising

Over the years you have been asked to support the 4th Gillingham Sea Scout Group in various ways. This letter is another plea for your much-needed support. The cost of providing a safe building and the necessary equipment to run a unit such as ours has stretched our limited finances to near breaking point. So much that after 85 years it is in danger of closing in the very near future if we cannot raise more funds. In attempt to tackle this we have recently set up a new ‘Fundraising Committee’. The committee has produced a number of ideas and if approved by the Group Executive we will be asking for your help and support to make them happen. Please help us to save the 4th Gillingham and continue to provide a safe and educational outlet for your child.
